Thanks for logging on! We hope you enjoy your tour of the Des Moines Police Department, and that you visit our website often. We appreciate your support to the men and women who wear the badge.
The Des Moines Police Department is one of the Nation's premiere law enforcement agencies. As Association President, it is an honor and a privilege to represent the protective and benevolent interests of Des Moines police officers. This website is owned and maintained by the Des Moines police officers through the Police Burial Association and the Police Bargaining Unit. No tax dollars fund it's operation. Because this is a privately owned website, we are able to provide a unique, intimate, and entertaining perspective and viewpoint into the law enforcement profession.
Our department operates under the command of Chief William McCarthy who joined the department on February 9, 1970 and took the position of Chief of Police on February 17, 2003.
Des Moines is one of the Midwest's most progressive and innovative cities. Our quality of life is second to none. Des Moines and it's suburbs are home to companies such as Wells Fargo, Principal Insurance, John Deere, Meredith Corporation, Anderson Erickson Dairy, Townsend Engineering, McAninch Corporation, and Weitz Construction. Some of the best medical facilities in the country call Des Moines home, such as Mercy Medical Center and Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Downtown Des Moines is currently experiencing a period of unparalleled growth and remodeling. New buildings and new attractions will be the central theme of downtown Des Moines for the foreseeable future. A modern skywalk system connected to new parking facilities makes Des Moines a climate-controlled place to do business. There's plenty of retail shopping and restaurants connected to our skywalks. Add to this great schools, low crime, and plenty of natural resources, and it's quick to understand why more and more people are calling Des Moines home!
Special thanks go out to NET.INS. Without their generosity and support, the audio portion of this website would be restricted!
