Media's response to police deaths is lacking

Media’s response to Police deaths is lacking

Two Palm Springs, Calif., police officers were slain Oct. 8: Officer Jose “Gil” Gilbert Vega, 63, and Officer Lesley Zerebny, 27.  Vega was a 35 year veteran and was to retire at the end of this year.  Zerebny had just returned to duty after maternity leave.  The alleged shooter was described as a gang member “gone crazy.”

Is it appropriate now for the Blue Lives Matter groups to storm into the city of Palm Springs and protest these murders with looting, violence and property destruction?  This seems to be the norm for any shooting by a police officer. And the media is always right there supporting the protesters’ rights to loot and burn.

Why is the media not up in arms about this violent act?  No statements of outrage or even sorrow have come from the media or our White House.  Ashamedly, I think we all know why, and it is truly sad.  The Register needs to step up to the plate and become a leader in these instances and not just a follower or the status quo.
